What Is the Difference Between a Regular Lash Lift and a Korean Lash Lift?

Clients often ask us about the difference between a regular lash lift and a Korean lash lift. Both services lift your natural lashes and make them easier to see. The products, steps, and finished shape can be different.

What Is a Regular Lash Lift?

During a regular lash lift, the artist places your lashes onto a curved silicone shield. A lifting solution softens the lashes, and a setting solution holds them in their new shape.

The curve of the shield helps create the final result. Your artist chooses the shield based on the length of your lashes and the amount of curl you want.

A regular lash lift can create:

• A soft curl

• A more open-looking eye

• A rounded shape through the lashes

• A natural mascara-like effect

• A smooth result on lashes that are easy to lift

Regular lash lifts work well for many clients. The result can be soft or more curled, depending on the shield, product, timing, and artist.

What Is a Korean Lash Lift?

A Korean lash lift uses a different product and lifting process. Many Korean systems use cysteamine as the main lifting ingredient.

The artist may soften the lashes before placing them into their final position. This can make thick, straight, or downward-growing lashes easier to control.

A Korean lash lift often creates:

• A stronger lift near the roots

• A straighter upward shape

• More visible lash length

• More control over lashes that grow downward

• A clean and open look

Some Korean systems use flatter shields and little or no adhesive during parts of the service. The exact steps depend on the product system and the client’s natural lashes.

How Do the Results Look?

A regular lash lift usually creates more of a curl. The lashes lift upward and continue into a rounded shape.

A Korean lash lift usually creates more lift near the base of the lashes. The lashes can look straighter and longer from the root.

The best shape depends on your eyes.

Long lashes may need more curve so they do not touch the eyelid. Hooded eyes may need careful placement to keep the lashes visible and comfortable. Lashes that grow downward may need more lift at the base.

The artist should look at your lashes and eyes before choosing the method.

Can a Korean Lash Lift Cause More Sensitivity?

Yes. We have found that some clients experience more sensitivity with a Korean lash lift.

Many Korean systems use cysteamine. This ingredient can irritate the skin and eyes. The product may also be placed closer to the roots during the service.

Some clients may experience:

• Watery eyes

• Stinging

• Redness

• Itching

• Skin irritation

• Discomfort during or after the service

A product may work well on the lash hair and still cause sensitivity around the eyes.

Please tell your artist if you have sensitive eyes, allergies, dry eyes, watery eyes, irritated skin, or a past reaction to a lash lift. You should also share any recent eye procedures or infections.

Some clients with sensitive eyes may do better with a regular lash lift. Others may need to avoid lash lifts.

Which Lash Lift Lasts Longer?

Both services can last about six to eight weeks. Your natural lash-growth cycle affects how long you see the result.

New lashes grow in while lifted lashes naturally shed. The lift slowly becomes less visible as this happens. Aftercare, lash condition, product choice, and processing time can also affect the result.

Which Lash Lift Is Right for You?

A regular lash lift may work well if:

• You want a soft or rounded curl

• Your lashes lift easily

• You have had good results with regular lifts

• You have experienced sensitivity with cysteamine

• You prefer a classic lifted shape

A Korean lash lift may work well if:
